Restoration Begins With Us: A Climate Manifesto.

Victoria Ayomide Banjo

My name is Victoria Banjo, a nursing student leader and sustainability advocate working at the intersection of health, climate, and the environment, specifically SDG 3, SDG 13, and SDG 15. I currently serve as the Project Manager for the Standing Committee on Environmental Health and Climate Action (SCOECA), where I lead youth-driven initiatives at the intersection of public health, climate resilience, and environmental protection.

As Executive Adviser on Sustainable Research and Academic Initiative to the 28th NUNSA National Vice President, I guide policy-shaping strategies that amplify the role of nurses in sustainable development. Through storytelling, advocacy, and bold initiative, I’ve demonstrated how young nurses can lead from the front, influence the global health conversation, and bring the SDGs to life in real-world contexts. My work combines field impact through nationwide medical outreaches and flood-prone community interventions with research, innovation, and youth engagement.

In recognition of my contributions, I was honored as the Top Awardee of the SDG Nurse Award 2025 by the UN SDSN Nigeria and the SDG Nurse Network. This award reflects my belief that nurses are not just caregivers, but changemakers and climate champions. I’m passionate about building healthier people, a safer climate, and thriving ecosystems because sustainable development must be people-centered, youth-powered, and future-focused.

Thank you!.

My essay explores the environmental crisis caused by plastic pollution, using Idi-Araba as a vivid example of its impact. Inspired by my own experiences during community outreaches, I blended real-life observations with a powerful call to action, urging young change-makers to embrace the "Generation Restoration" movement.

Through practical solutions and visionary thinking, it highlights the pivotal role of youth in driving creative, community-based change. With a hopeful and motivational tone, it challenges this generation to take responsibility and lead the charge for a cleaner, restored planet.

Thank you!.
