From Ruin to Renewal: A Generation’s Promise

Enyinnaya Stephanie Echendu

My name is Enyinnaya Echendu. I am an 18 yr old Economics student of Pan-Atlantic University. I’m a poetry and book lover that cares about the environment and has volunteered to different charities, and environmental motions. I’m currently a member of my school’s community service project club. Nature has been a hand in inspiration for me, from my essays, to my poetry, to my paintings. Everything is connected to nature, from the similarities of our kinky hair to the clustered leaves of trees, to the way our eyes reflect like the rivers and oceans. Writing, to me, has always been a way to express wonder and worry; in this case wonder how beautiful our planet is and worry about how we’re treating it. I hope my poem can help us listen better to our home planet

"From Ruin to Renewal" is a poem that talks about the current generation that is starting to acknowledge the mistakes of the past concerning the health of the environment. This generation, however, is not defined by these past burdens, instead, it rises with a sense of purpose and an itch for change to mend what's broken and cultivate new beginnings, My poem emphasizes a proactive approach to the future, hoping that the efforts made will yield result.
