Ikechukwu Precious Chukwunomso
I’m Ikechukwu Precious Chukwunomso, a 100-level Microbiology student at the University of Lagos. Beyond academics, I’m a passionate creative who finds joy in storytelling and poetry. Writing gives me space to reflect, imagine, and explore emotions that science sometimes can’t explain. When I’m not studying or writing a new poem, I’m often deep in research about futuristic sci-fi tech — curious about what’s possible and how science can shape the future. I enjoy the blend of creativity and inquiry, and I’m always looking for ways to express myself while staying grounded in both science and imagination.

This poem speaks about the damage done to the environment and how small actions can begin to fix it. It reflects on how things used to be, what has been lost, and what can still be recovered. The poem shows that change doesn’t always start big — it can begin at home, with one person, one decision, one seed. It’s a call to take responsibility, to remember what clean air and green spaces felt like, and to act. It reminds us that restoring the earth is not far away — it can start right where we are.
