I’m an 100 level undergraduate at the Lagos State University. I find beauty in nature and I like capturing moments that strike me, for further editing, so that anyone who sees the image feels what I felt when I captured it.

When I look at my submission, I see something remarkable.
It tells, almost magically, the story of transformation—how vibrant green leaves evolve into golden brown history, still holding purpose.
The image captures a fallen, dried leaf resting in the midst of some young green plants, symbolizing the quiet but essential role aging elements of nature play in nurturing new life.
It chronicles the beauty of nature and the brilliance of God, showing that even in decay, there is beauty, grace and contribution.
The old leaf doesn’t fade into insignificance; instead, it enriches the soil, offering itself back to the earth to support the cycle it once sprang from.
This piece also serves as a reminder to continually re-evaluate how we perceive usefulness in nature.
Every stage in a plant’s life, holds meaning and potential.
From sprouting green to final wither,
"The Beauty of Old" invites us to find value in every phase, especially the inevitable end.
