Generation Restoration

Ajayi Handel

My name is Ajayi. I. Handel. I’m someone deeply committed to building a future that is not only smarter, but kinder — to both people and the planet. My journey so far has been one of exploration, service, and transformation, driven by a desire to challenge limiting narratives and spark change at the roots of society.

As a student at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, I’ve learned to see life not just through the lens of science, but also through empathy and responsibility. I founded AfriRise, a youth-centered initiative focused on mindset reform, community empowerment, and sustainable development in Africa. Through AfriRise, we’ve led local engagement projects — from distributing love packs in underserved communities to launching MindGym, a powerful movement tackling limiting beliefs and mental stagnation among youth.

My creative expression often flows through poetry and storytelling — using words to heal, inspire, and mobilize. In everything I do, I seek to ignite thought, deepen conviction, and drive meaningful action.

My poem “Generation Restoration" was born from a deep urgency — not just to mourn what’s been lost, but to celebrate the rising wave of hope led by everyday heroes: children planting trees, innovators recycling plastic, and communities choosing sustainability over silence. I wanted this poem to be a rhythm of restoration — a blend of sorrow, action, and triumph. It reflects my belief that we are not helpless; we are the healers. This is our chance to rewrite Earth's story — not with regret, but with resolve.
